What you need to know.

Typically between the 8th and 12th week of pregnancy. Phase 1 is optimised for preconception and early pregnancy (800 µg folate); Phase 2 reduces the folate dose to 600 µg and adds omega-3 (DHA/EPA) for fetal brain and eye development.

Quatrefolic® is the already methylated, bioactive form of folate (5-MTHF). It is the form the body can use directly — particularly relevant for women with MTHFR polymorphisms, whose conversion of folic acid may be impaired. Phase 2 combines both forms for maximum bioavailability.

Maternal intake of DHA contributes to the normal development of the eye and brain of the foetus and breastfed infants (EFSA claim, from 200 mg DHA/day in addition to the recommended omega-3 supply of 250 mg/day). Phase 2 provides 200 mg DHA + 300 mg EPA.

The omega-3 oil capsules contain fish oil — not vegan. The dry capsules are free from animal ingredients. For vegetarians or vegans: please discuss an alternative omega-3 source (algae DHA) with your doctor.

Normally you should not need any additional supplements, especially not with the micronutrients already contained in amitamin fertil F phase 2. In particular, please discuss additional iron, vitamin A or calcium with your doctor. amitamin fertil F Phase 2 already provides these in effective doses. Over-supply of vitamin A during pregnancy should be avoided; Phase 2 contains only the precursor beta-carotene as a safe form.

From the 3rd month of pregnancy until the end of breastfeeding — typically 12–18 months. The increased micronutrient requirements during this phase (folate, iron, iodine, DHA) remain relevant throughout the entire breastfeeding period.
